VTS

Vessel Traffic System (VTS) is the state-of-the-art maritime system which is used by the port authorities to monitor and manage their sea areas.

VTS is a modular system which consists of the following sub-systems:

  • Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS)
  • Radio Detection and Ranging (RADAR)
  • Automatic Identification System (AIS)
  • Electro-Optical System (EOS)
  • Radio Communication System (RCS)
  • Meteorological System (METEO)
  • Radio Direction Finder (RDF)

Search and Rescue (SAR) at sea is a critical mission carried out by a dedicated marine department to search for the distressed or missed vessels and provide the aid and return them to shore safely using GMDSS.

GMDSS consists of the following components:

  • MH/HF/VHF Radios
  • INMARSAT
  • NAVTEX
  • Digital Selective Calling (DSC)
  • Search and Rescue Transponder (SART)
  • Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB)

Aid to Navigation (ATON) is a vital system designed and operated to enhance the safety and efficiency of the sea navigation by using fixed and floating markers to build dedicated channels to guide the ships to the safe and right route.

ATON consists of the following components:

  • RACONS: Radar Beacons
  • Buoys: Fixed|Elastic|Floating
  • Lanterns: Rotating|Stand-alone|Compact
  • AIS Transponders
  • Meteorological System
  • Monitoring and Controlling System
